This Is Only A General Information Manual, But You Will Find It Very Helpful. Please Read!!!
If not included with your unit, the specific operational manual for your Aqua Health Ionizer model can be downloaded or emailed to you; call for details.

Operation Tips
Before starting
your session and adding salt, ensure you have enough water to completely cover
the ionizer array. (It's okay for the section of array cord, on end attached to
the array, to be in water.
Adding Sea Salt
If the Aqua Health Ionizer display shows less than 1.6 amps, you can add sea salt to the water in the tub, in 1/8 to ¼ teaspoon increments, until desired optimal conductivity is obtained. Optimum operating range of the Aqua Health Ionizer is between 1.6 amps to 2.4 amps depending on machine mode and model. The amperage reading is visible on the unit's display during the entirety of an Ionic foot bath session.
Never add more than ½ teaspoon in total and always make sure all the previously added sea salt is dissolved before adding more! Remember any un-dissolved sea salt crystals in the water will cause the amperage to continue to increase as it dissolves; therefore, even though you stop adding sea salt when amperage is below 2.4 amps, if there are still un-dissolved salt crystals in the spa water, the amperage may increase well above 2.4 amps as the salt dissolves. Such an increase will cause the unit to shut down, malfunction, and possibly sustain damage not covered by the warrantee.
Once the ion density (amperage) is above 1 amp, always add salt slower and more cautiously, in much less quantities (tiny sprinkles); to help the salt dissolve before adding more, it is especially important to agitate your feet for 1 to 2 minutes. As a precaution to ensure that the ion density will not exceed 2.4 amps, you may stop adding more salt once the minimum optimal density reading of 1.6 amps is reached. This will allow room for the possible increase due to the continuation of the dissolving and diffusing process of the salt.
Once you initially reached your desired optimal amperage reading, (1.6 amps to 2.4 amps depending on machine mode and model), DO NOT ADD MORE SALT DURING THE SESSION. It is normal for the ion density ready to drop during the session; you must not constantly continue adding salt to keep up the reading.
If you have a constant reading over 2.4 AMPS water should be added to reduce the amperage to between 1.6 amps to 2.4 amps (depending on the machine mode and model). Operating the unit above 2.4 AMPS may cause the unit to shut off and beep. Some tap water interferes with the amperage reading. Again, never add more than ½ teaspoon or operate the unit above 2.4 AMPS. Salt increases water's corrosive properties; so add as little salt as possible to the water in order to maximize the life of the ionizer array.
**********************IMPORTANT****************************
Using warm water is important for the Ionic foot bath sessions. Warm water is, not only more comfortable and relaxing, but also more energetic; thus, the pores of the human body will open wider, speed up and intensify the diffusion/osmosis cleansing process. Warm water is also useful because it is able to dissolve the added sea salt faster. Having the sea salt dissolve faster and more readily is very helpful during the manual process of adjusting amperage to the desired 1.6 AMPS to 2.4 AMPS setting and not exceeding it. (Recall: this is done by manually adding sea salt to the spa water). We highly recommend using sea salt in the powered or fine granulated form so that it is able to dissolve faster.

Increasing Conductivity
Conductivity relates to water's ability to transmit electricity. This is important because it determines the amount of ionization potential — which determines the effectiveness of the Ionic foot bath session. With the exception of water that is distilled or processed through a reverse osmosis system (RO), all types of water possess some degree of conductivity. We don’t believe it is necessary to use distilled or RO water, except as stated on the 'ionization potential' section on the next page. In general using distilled or RO water, will require more salt to be added.
Ionization Potential
Pure water such as distilled or reverse osmosis water cannot conduct electricity. Adding a little sea salt promotes the water’s ability to conduct electricity. This capability of water to conduct electricity impacts on the ability of the arrays to generate ions through ionization and thus the Ionic foot bath's detoxification and health benefit function. If the Aqua Health Ionizer panel shows less than 1.6 ampere, you should enhance the ionization capability of the array by adding a little sea salt into the water for better conductivity. However for maintaining the machine’s life, please avoid adding too much sea salt.
The greater the concentration of active minerals in the water, the greater the ionization potential of the water. Chlorine, fluorine and the new chlorine neutralizers used by water authorities to mask chlorine greatly reduce the ionization potential of water because they bond with the ions produced by the Ionic foot bath and neutralize them.
A growing number of municipal water systems appear to be using highly chlorinated water with a masking agent that neutralizes the taste and smell of the chlorine. When such tap water is used in the Aqua Health Ionizer, it will only turn pale yellow-green and emit a strong chlorine odor. This odor is the result of ions being generated by the unit attempting to neutralize the highly toxic water. Furthermore, the combination of chlorine and neutralizing agents also neutralizes ion exchange activity. This type of treated municipal water is incapable of producing benefits for the user and cannot be used. Distilled or RO water can be used as a substitute in this case.
Due to the cumulative detoxification benefits of the Aqua Health Ionizer, a different spectrum of colors and objects in the water should appear after each session. If a consistent pale yellow-green color appears after several sessions, try switching to distilled water, adding sea salt in 1/8 teaspoon or less increments to increase the water's conductivity to the desired level, or use chlorine free spring water. More salt will generally be needed if distilled or RO water is used.
Caring for Your Aqua Health Ionizer Control Head
-
Do not drop or impact device with hard object.
-
Avoid damaging protective shell casing of the device.
-
Avoid using chemical agents for cleaning off dirt & dust on surface of device.
-
Press the keys gently to ensure a long lifespan for the device.
-
Do not submerge the Aqua Health Ionizer Machine in water as this will cause the display and electrical components to be damaged.
Array Cleaning and Storage
****************************IMPORTANT***********************
The ionizer array is a depleting material that has a varied life span, depending on the local water and the acidity of the user(s). Please note that it cannot be fully immersed into water for washing. Keep plug prong dry. Please keep the electrode in a dry area when it is not in use. An ionizer array should be replaced when the edges of the metal plates inside become rough & the surfaces become pitted, or when bubbles are not forming and the spa water does not change color. These disposable arrays are not covered under the warranty as they are a consumable. The Cost of replacing the ionizer array is available on our Web Site at www.ionichealthspa.com or from your dealer.
****************************IMPORTANT***********************
The array is the part that goes in the water and creates ions. The process of putting electricity through the metal plates causes oxidation of the plates inside the array. This is a natural process that eats away the metal plates. The residue deposits on the plates, the array acryl frame case and in the water. To keep your foot bath sanitary as well as functioning properly, there are a few things that must be done:
-
Array Cleaning/Disinfection: Let the array soak for 15 minutes or longer in ascorbic acid solution (described below) and rinse with clean hot water.
-
Additional Disinfection Step: Clean the array between sessions with hot soapy water and spray/soak with an anti-bacterial disinfectant. We recommend a hospital or food service grade disinfectant, (for example Vikron solution will ensure a thorough disinfection). Don’t forget to rinse the array and plates before their next use!
-
Every 5 to 15 sessions the array should be scrubbed with a hand brush or rag to remove the residue buildup, and then soaked overnight in an acid solution composed of about 1000 ml of water and a tea spoon of white ascorbic acidic powder. (You can purchase the ascorbic acid powder from any drug store)
